Design and Optimization of Novel Passive Micromixers with High Mixing Performance and Easy Fabrication

Abstract

The goal is to discover novel micromixers with following characteristics so as to overcome the challenges of mixing at microscale: (i) Having a smart structure that enables multiple effective mixing mechanisms, such as splitting, recombining, folding, twisting, vortex, and chaotic advection. (ii) Being passive, i.e. the micromixers enable various mixing mechanisms without a need of any external energy sources. (iii) Having a simple structure for easy, low-cost and reliable fabrication.
