Missing links between the solar photospheric magnetic field and the upper atmosphere

Abstract

This is a proposal to use a new form of processing of Nobeyama Solar Radioheliograph data to study the magnetic field at the Sun s poles and to investigate coronal heating. At the end, the effort will identify which coronal heating mechanism is effective: waves, small flares, or direct hot plasma supply. Coronal heating mechanisms working at unipolar regions including polar regions will help to understand the relation between polar field strength and solar wind parameters.
