Topologically Nontrivial Electromagnetic States

Abstract

Metamaterials are artificial electromagnetic media that are structured on the subwavelength scale. The goal of this research effort is to uncover the fundamental properties of light in their most exotic topologically nontrivial form. Success of this project will provide physicists and engineers with an entirely new electromagnetic platform of photonic topological insulators.
