Rapid Preconcentration And Detection Of Pathogens In Large Volumes Via Dual-Nanoparticle Targeting

Abstract

We propose to develop a portable and cost-effective magneto-electric enrichment device that allows rapid pre-concentration of Gram-negative bacteria from mL to L volumes under high flow rates. Aim 1: Dual NP tagging of bacterial cells in buffer/serumAim 2: Studying the impedance properties of the dual NP-tagged bacteriaAim 3: Fabrication of the magneto-electric millifluidic deviceAim 4: Performing cell capture studies under liquid flowAim 5: Optimization of experimental parameters to obtain the highest capture and detection efficiencies
