The Development Of Nitroxide-Containing Anti-Biofilm Agents

Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop new chemical approaches to prepare nitroxide-containing anti-biofilm agents that will discourage bacterial attachment and ensure greater long-term control over biofilm growth and thus mitigate biofilm formation on various surfaces. The major goals of this research are to understand the chemistry needed 1) to couple molecules with nitroxide and antibiofilm functionalities into single molecules and 2) for their attachment to a variety of surfaces so that they retain high antifungal efficacy.
