Semantic Mapping for Disaster Response

Abstract

The project is a collaboration between researchers at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). The three year project focuses on the challenge of providing accurate and informative data about a disaster area for responders to make planning decisions. The proposed work aims precisely at contributing to addressing this challenge toward a semantic map building and analysis tool that human responders can use in their decision making by translating a massive amount of raw data created from an aftermath into informative, compact, and semantically rich information.
