7th International Laser Shock Peening Conference - Singapore

Abstract

Sponsorship is sought to host the International Conference on Laser Peening and Related Phenomena and will be held in Singapore between 17-22nd of June 2018. This will be the 7th conference in the series the location of which traditionally rotates from the USA, Europe and Asia. The conference will be hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS), jointly organised with Coventry University, UK, through its Singapore Hub. Laser peening is a surface treatment process for enhancing the fatigue life on safety critical components and structures. It works by inducing in the part a region of compressive residual stress that counteracts any external applied loading. The conference will maintain its workshop-style approach of a single session and an emphasis on discussion and networking, with a focus on industrial problems and applications, alongside the basic phenomena of materials response and the development of laser systems for the future.
