AOARD-Australia Space Workshop & Program Review
Abstract
As the number of users of space increases, space situational awareness (SSA) is becomingincreasingly important in order to guarantee access to space and operability of spacecraft.Space situational awareness encompasses a range of sensing, simulation, and dynamicsactivities including physics?based modeling of the interaction between space objects and theirenvironments, space surveillance both from the ground and from space, and astrodynamics toimprove the ability to predict and avoid collisions as well as rendezvous of satellites andformation flying. This invited 3?day workshop will bring together the leading actors in Australia and NewZealand in SSA, and will also serve as an opportunity for AOARD PIs in the Oceania region toreport on their findings to their colleagues, AOARD, and key SSA practitioners from the UnitedStates. The title reflects the fact that three previous workshops have been held in 2014, 2016,and 2017, hosted by the Defense Science and Technology Group (DST Group) and UNSWCanberra Space.
