Lightweight, Energy Ansorbing Sandwich Composite Structures with Bamboo Fiber Reinforced Plastic (BFRP) Core by using Additive Manufacturing
Abstract
Sandwich structures are substantially employed in structures of military aircrafts. Such sandwich structures are composite systems made by adhesively bonding two thin stiff face sheets to a much weaker, thick lightweight core structure. Although it presents promising performances, they exhibit very poor vibrational damping, noise, and impact resistance. In order to overcome these problems, a number of core materials and geometries have been suggested.
