Low Noise Telecom Quantum Receivers for Aerospace Applications

Abstract

In the proposed study we intend to develop quantum receiver using frequency up-conversion [5–9]. This will be further used to detect photon-pairs generated in an integrated platform using spontaneous four wave mixing (SFWM) in micro ring resonator. Adaptation of these up-conversion detector for free space quantum communication is one of the important outlook of this study. As an extended goal we will be demonstrating time-energy/time-bin entanglement with the developed source and receiver systems. Once demonstrated in the lab, the source and receiver can be used to implement free space entanglement and quantum key distribution between distant stations in daylight.
