DEVELOPING LIGHT CONTROLLED LOGIC GATES FOR LIVING MATERIALS

Abstract

The research project aims to develop multi-chromatic light controllable logic gates to enable bacteria encapsulated in a living material to switch between multiple gene expression states in both space and time. The main research objective is to achieve tighter and finer resolution in spatial control of bacterial gene regulation with multiple wavelengths of light. Precise spatial and multi-states control of gene expression could enable material properties to be modified in space and time, creating material with unique useful properties for various applications.
