U.S.-Israel Security Dialogue

Abstract

The James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) proposes to plan and execute a Track 1.5 (quasi-official) U.S.-Israel security dialogue in Spring 2017. The proposed bilateral security dialogue would address nonproliferation-related issues not dealt with in existing dialogues and focus on promoting an inclusive and transparent process of informal discussions between American and Israeli experts. Participants will exchange views on threat perceptions, bridge perceived gaps in goals, priorities, and policies, and identify further opportunities for deepening U.S.-Israel cooperation in countering the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and related threats to regional security. Products of the dialogue will include a joint collection of white papers by American and Israeli participants, a publicly releasable report of final findings and recommendations, as well as briefings to U.S. and Israeli government officials.
