Multi-Beam RF Aperture Arrays Using Multiplierless Approximate FFT

Abstract

This effort will develop a computationally efficient Fast Fourier Transform approximation of the Discrete Fourier Transform suitable for real-time implementation on DSP hardware for digital beamforming applications. This includes developing a suite of optimized low-complexity a-DFT algorithms, building a suite of synthesizable hardware cores, and using optimized digital FPGA cores as the digital back-end, design, build, and test in real-time a 32 element multi-beamformer using COTS components for verifying the multi-beam RF digital beamforming applications of a-DFTs.
