Studying the African sector equatorial ionospheric F region irregularities

Abstract

Our understanding of the ionosphere has been driven by different types of models and measurements gathered by in-situ and remote sensing methods. The lack of sufficient ground-based measurement systems has been more pronounced especially in the African sector, and as a result there are many outstanding problems that are not yet well understood. The goal of this proposal is to understand the initiation mechanisms as well as the temporal and spatial evolution of equatorial plasma bubbles (EPB) in the east African sector.
