International Conference on "Nonlinear Optics at Interfaces

Abstract

Nonlinear optical phenomena such as coherent Raman, multi-wave mixing, second harmonic generation and sum frequency generation, facilitated by state-of-the-art ultrafast lasers that provide high peak intensity, have enabled investigation of all kinds of surfaces and interfaces important to materials, chemical, and biological systems, as well as energy and environmental applications. The conference seeks to bring together leaders, such as Hrvoje Petek (U. Pittsburgh), Ron Shen (UC Berkeley), Mischa Bonn (MPG Mainz), Ellen Backus (Vienna) and Elsa Yan (Yale), in a community that is spread across continents to review the most recent advances as well as stimulate new directions for research and discovery.
