Meta-coatings for optical breakdown Mitigation

Abstract

Optical trains exploited in the various applications using the high power continuous wave lasers suffer severely from the damages due to the extremely high and non-homogeneous energy density distribution. In present project, the possibility of exploiting novel Transition metal oxide functionalized materials and meta-structures to mitigate the breakdown phenomena in these components will be investigated. The coatings will be fabricated via pulsed laser deposition and will be investigated for their relative physico-chemical properties to understand the mitigation mechanisms and optimise the required optical properties.
