Neuromorphic sensor signal processing for spatio-temporal tracking in low SNR

Abstract

This project aims to deliver a new neuromorphic sensing and processing approach for spatio-temporal target tracking in very low signal to noise environments. This is currently an extremely problematic scenario across all modalities of sensing, including imaging systems, electro-optics and radar. Therefore improving detection capabilities in this area would bring many benefits, with the most obvious being earlier target detection and recognition at the edge of sensor capability. Neuromorphic sensor signal processing introduces a paradigm shift in both sensing and processing with multiple features that are well suited for this complex task, including asynchronous processing, sparsity and lower SWaP profile.
