Workshop on Design Thinking and Advanced Engineering Materials for Extreme Environments

Abstract

The workshop will bring together experts and stakeholders in materials, design, and manufacturing to discuss the innovations and developments that are possible from the indigenous resources and techniques in South Asia. The main participants will be experts and scientists from the US, India, and Nepal. This is the first time such a workshop is being held in Nepal. The event is divided into two components. The Advanced Materials Symposium will bring together Nepali researchers working on AFOSR-AOARD-funded projects with AFOSR scientists. The symposium will host presentations from Nepali researchers on advanced-engineering materials research and provide an opportunity for new researchers to seek funding through AFOSR in Nepal. The Design Thinking Workshop will bring the knowledge and experience of professors from the Department of Design, IIT Roorkee, to the participants in Nepal. As the first ever organized in Nepal, the workshop is expected to significantly support Nepal s growing design and manufacturing sector. The events will occur in Kathmandu, Nepal, on December 13, 2024.
