AFOSR-IOS (SOARD) The Connections to Sustain Science in Latin America Symposium 2025

Abstract

The workshop will work to bring together early-mid-career scientists, engineers, and medical professionals from Latin America, the Caribbean, the United States, and Canada to explore advancements in various fields. The symposium, to be held in Lima, Peru, will focus on five key areas- Artificial Intelligence, Water Resilience, Infectious Diseases, Sustainable Energy Infrastructure, and Biodiversity. The event seeks to enhance scientific dialogue, encourage collaboration, and empower researchers to assume leadership roles. By engaging with 100 researchers from diverse disciplines and countries, the Department of Defense (DOD) aims to tap into an expanded network of research ecosystems and approaches to AI and energy, ultimately strengthening collaboration with international allies and partners. The project also includes a fellowship program to support travel and accommodation for attendees from Latin American countries whose research focus is on artificial intelligence and other topics relevant to the DOD.
