Design of Novel, Cross-Layer Neighbor Discovery Schemes for Directional Mesh Networks

Abstract

The Recipient will seek to develop and demonstrate novel cross-layer neighbor discovery schemes for wireless mesh networks (WMN) with fully-directional antennas. The proposed schemes will enable fast and energy efficient self-configurations of WMNs. The Recipient shall also build a hardware testbed to test the performance of neighbor discovery schemes for WMN. The aim of the proposed research is the joint design of fully-directional neighbor discovery schemes, medium-access control protocols, and routing protocols, while considering the directional antennas.
