Active Plasmonic Antenna Arrays for Terahertz Frequency Communications

Abstract

The Recipient will seek to develop, design and fabricate two types of active antenna arrays for the terahertz (THz) band. The first will be a graphene/metal hybrid reflect array, and the second will be a transmit array integrated with an on- chip, electronically driven plasmonic THz source. The targeted breakthrough is to demonstrate active array control and, thus, beamforming, in both transmission and reflection, at or above 1 THz.
