An Ablation Model for High Temperature Ceramics

Abstract

FA9453-17-1-0085 Public Purpose Statement The Proposed research will impact public good by creating a reliable physics based model in order to accurately characterize proposed thermal protection system material’s oxidation response that couple the kinetics and reaction path mechanisms for the oxidation of ultra-high temperature ceramic composites under extreme temperatures. Obvious benefits include potential space vehicle applications which provide for efficiency and safety when traveling to and from locations outside our atmosphere.
