Physics of Beamed Microwave Plasmas in Supersonic Flows

Abstract

The objective of this research is to demonstrate the creation of a gaseous plasma in the diverging (supersonic) portion of a nozzle flow using high-power beamed microwave energy and to experimentally characterize the coupling of the microwave energy to the flow to convert the beamed power to thrust that separates the electrical power source from the vehicle
