Investigations of Linear and Nonlinear Propagation of Electromagnetic Waves In Topological Photonic Structures

Abstract

The objective of this basic research project is to provide the foundational understanding for the nonlinear propagation of electromagnetic waves along surfaces in novel ways (sharp turns and zig-zag pathways) which nonlinearity can allow. In a sense this is a very interesting extension of the relatively new field of metamaterials into the nonlinear regime.
