High Temperature Phase Transformations in the Rare Earth Titanate System
Abstract
The aim of this project is to elucidate and document the phase transformations and thermal expansions occurring in the family of rare earth-titania systems of composition Ln2O3(dot)TiO2, Ln2O3(dot)2TiO2 and 2Ln2O3(dot)3TiO2. The PI is proposing to investigate stereographic analyses of the operating lattice correspondence that her group will determine. The pivotal part of the project is the understanding of the presence of any lattice invariant shears (i.e., slip or twinning).
