Reconfigurable, High-Frequency Circuit Components using Phase Change Materials

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop new, innovative implementations of electronically tunable substrate materials. These materials will enable tuning of frequency and loss of resonating elements by controlling both the tank capacitance and the effective quality factor (Q). The new materials will extend the tuning range of high-Q absorptive bandstop filters by allowing precise amplitude matching of parallel signal paths for optimum cancellation. The outcome of this research will be new materials that can be used as a basis for creating a wide range of reconfigurable devices and systems.
