Evolution and Stability of Vortical Gusts Impinging Upon Elastic Wings

Abstract

The objective of the proposed effort is to gain fundamental insight into the dynamics, distortion, and stability of finite-core, rectilinear vortices and their interactions with an elastic wing through the development of mathematical models. These models will then be used to study the evolution of vortices produced by leader aircraft and their coupled interactions with the wings of follower aircraft in formation flight.
