AFOSR COE: Science of Electronics in Extreme Electromagnetic Environments

Abstract

The University of New Mexico (UNM) and the University of Maryland (UMD) propose an innovative, highly coordinated research program to develop a fundamental understanding of the effects of Extreme Electromagnetic Interference (EEMI) environments on electronic systems for current CMOS and emerging technologies. The team comprises an inter-disciplinary cadre of leading academic researchers and scientists with extensive expertise in the niche domains of identifying the causality of, and modeling the phenomenology of EEMI-induced upset and disruption of CMOS devices, integrated circuits (ICs), and printed circuit boards (PCBs).
