Understanding the stability and microstructure of the zeta phase in transition metal carbides and nitrides

Abstract

The aim of this project is to investigate stability phase fields for metal carbide systems using first principles, and specifically by utilizing electronic structure density functional theory. Multiple examples are cited that indicate that the offeror understands the technical intent of the aerospace materials for extreme environment portfolio.
