Lattice Confined Mixtures and Molecules of Yb and Li Atoms for Quantum Simulation

Abstract

1) Create single-pair filling of Li and Yb in three-dimensional optical standing-wave potentials for quantum simulation of spins on a lattice with either long-range interactions or enlarged spin symmetries. 2) Develop methods to achieve very low entropies in optical lattices, exploiting unique properties of the Li-Yb mixture.
