Fluid modeling of instabilities and structures in Hall plasmas relevant to electric propulsion

Abstract

The proposed theoretical research aims to clarify the dominant mechanisms and evaluate structure formation and anomalous transport in Hall thrusters and other related devices. The advanced multi-fluid models will be developed including collisions, ionization effects and anisotropy of electron distribution function. The fluid modes will be based on recent advances in theory of instabilities in Hall plasmas with E B drift and improved understanding of the fundamental physics responsible for multitude of fluctuations in Hall thrusters.
