On-chip Quantum Memories at Telecom Wavelengths Based on Er3+:YSO Nano-Photonic Resonators

Abstract

The objective of this proposal is to develop on-chip nano-scale optical quantum memories operating at telecom wavelength. These devices will be used to store and release photons while preserving their quantum state. Optical quantum memories are key elements for implementing optical fiber networks for quantum key distribution that allow for Internet communications with absolute security.
