Ultracold Molecular Assembly and Quantum Chemistry

Abstract

This proposal aims to develop new tools and methods, inspired by technical advances in the field of ultracold atomic and molecular physics, to study chemistry-relevant topics in the quantum regime. These topics encompass: 1. Studies of elementary reactions where quantum mechanics plays an essential role and 2. Application of a new quantum simulation tool based on ultracold molecules to quantum chemistry, where calculations of molecular properties such as binding energies are essential in determining properties of chemical reactions and chemical energy storage.
