Making Cryptography at the Edges Reliable

Abstract

This proposal explores alternatives to construct program obfuscation with weaker computational assumptions on the construction of multilinear maps or graded encoding that potentially gives rise to a new security requirement. If successful, this research direction will make program obfuscation more practical. In the same research direction, the PI will focus on obfuscation of a large class of special programs to vastly reduce the number of assumptions imposed on multilinear maps while keeping the strength of security requirement. Another interesting proposed research task is to explore construction of functional encryption directly from multilinear maps without having to bootstrap encryption as in the current framework of homomorphic encryption constructed by Craig Gentry.
