Enhanced inversion of backscatter oblique ionograms

Abstract

Implement a backscatter oblique ionogram (BOI) simulation environment based on a numerical ray-trace, an empirical ionospheric model and an ionospheric perturbation model and use it to investigate the impact of ionospheric perturbations on the BOIs. Thereby determine the required measurement fidelity to detect/measure the perturbations. Also develop the necessary theory required to utilise seismic-like inversion schemes for BOI inversion.
