Extreme Near-Field Enhancement for Gaseous Plasma Generation and Fundamental Plasma Chemistry

Abstract

The goal of this research proposal is to investigate gaseous plasma generation using extreme near-field enhancement of localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) and to elucidate the fundamental plasma physics and chemistry theoretically. The work aims to demonstrate plasma formation using low power CW lasers. Surface and catalytic effects on plasma formation and other photochemical reactions will also be investigated.
