Boiling Heat Transfer on Surfaces with Extreme Wettabilities

Abstract

Through a combination of experiments and numerical modeling, this proposal aims to develop patterned surfaces with extreme wettabilities that will enable dramatic and simultaneous enhancements in both the critical heat flux and heat transfer coefficient for water, as well as, for a range of other liquids possessing a lower surface tension.
