Sparse Measurements and Optimal Sensor Placement for Classification and State Estimation of Complex Systems

Abstract

The objective of this basic research project is to provide the mathematical/algorithmic foundations for smart sensor algorithms that are capable of maximizing information acquired from a small (sparse) number of sensors. In this way the DoD will have the wherewithal to do ISR from small platforms, such as drones.
