Ultra High-Speed Optical Diagnostics for Hypersonic Flow Testing
Abstract
This proposal is aimed at improving the optical diagnostic capabilities of University of Maryland Center of Excellence for Revitalization of the Hypersonic Testing and Evaluation Workforce, by acquiring critical equipment required for enabling optical flow visualization at up to one million frames per second and simultaneous measurements using other optical diagnostic tools such as radical chemiluminescence and temperature sensitive paints. The goal is to develop ultra high-speed flow visualization systems, which will not only enhance our current capabilities of studying hypersonic flow phenomenon but also establish new transition opportunities for implementing advanced diagnostics into hypersonic T&E facilities.
