Nematic colloidal tilings as tunable soft metamaterials

Abstract

Develop soft tunable metamaterials based on nematic colloidal tilings. By combining modeling approaches and partner experiments, the key characteristics and diversifiers of such soft metamaterials will be explored, including self-assembly, electric-field tunability, and hierarchical material design.
