AFOSR Indo-UK -US Joint Physics Initiative for study of angular optical mode fiber amplification

Abstract

With IIT-M address limits on ultra-short pulses and coherently combined phased-array high-energy lasers imposed by phase distortions resulting from thermal and fiber effects. Build up experimental understanding of physics, use modeling to show that vortex modes help, and show that suitable fibers can be fabricated. Advantages of vortex modes planned to be shown at high energy in follow-on work.
