Liquid crystal light valves driven by photovoltaic fields - RX Evans

Abstract

The objective of the proposed research is to stimulate electro-optic responses in liquid crystal (LC) light valves by using photovoltaic fields. Test cells with either one or two photosensitive substrates will be investigated. Polymer network LCs with both dielectric and ferroelectric response are candidates to achieve self-activated light modulation with grayscale or on/off-response, respectively.
