Cell response determinants in laser-induced thermal impacts

Abstract

This proposal aims to identify determinants for cell damage and functionality to provide fundamental insights into tissue response to thermal impacts and thermal damage kinetics. Photoacoustic feedback control of laser dose enables the control of the thermal dose at the irradiated site during retinal laser irradiation to investigate biochemical discriminates between cell damage and stimulation. This research will help establish a precise and effective sublethal laser reaction model of cellular cascades in effort to understand and predict thermal cellular reaction kinetics and cellular responses.
