S-Layer Directed Nanoscale Fluid Mechanics

Abstract

The main objectives of this research proposal are the detailed investigation of the anti-fouling and the hydrodynamic surface properties of S-layers. They assume that the S-layer modifies the structure of the first "locked-in" water layer(s) and, in this way, makes it to the liquid-repellent and slippery surface.
