Stochastic Models for cold sprayed microstructures
Abstract
The project aims to develop theories using 1) description of the microstructure to validate and develop micromechanical models; 2) microstructural information in terms of distribution functions; and 3) a description in terms of moments to obtain practical models. Simulation-based materials design has the potential to dramatically reduce the need for expensive down-stream characterization and testing . Added objective could be discovery of new materials from cold spray processing. This is unique research area that can ignite research mathematical description of microstructure in US that is not currently available in US.
