A New Paradigm for Turbulence Control for Drag Reduction

Abstract

The objective of the proposed work is to show that a phononic subsurface can be used to modify the turbulence in a boundary layer in such a way as to suppress the turbulence and reduce the friction drag associated with the boundary layer.
