Integrated Nonlinear Photonics Platform for the Mid-Infrared

Abstract

The midinfrared region, between 2 to 10 ?m, contains a wealth of applications: communications, sensing, medicine, spectroscopy and military counter measures. Atmospheric transmission windows allow for secure free space communications, imaging and sensing applications range from defense to natural disaster prevention, and the large bandwidths available are useful for on-chip optical signal processing. The goal is to advance the state-of-the-art for optical technology in this wavelength band.
