Controlling Ultrafast Dynamics and Modelocking in Kerr Microcombs

Abstract

The objective of the proposed work is the study of optical frequency combs based on microresonator structures with the goal of developing a deterministic path toward low noise, modelocked microcombs. Such microcombs operate in a fundamentally different way than conventional mode-locked laser frequency combs. If succesful, optical frequency micro combs may supply the stability and spectral purity of optical frequency standards in a compact, robust and portable platform.
