Real-time dynamics of hot spots in microstructured energentic materials: experiments and simulations

Abstract

The objective of this project to experimentally characterize and theoretically explain hot spots in microstructured energetic materials (EM). The ultimate goals are to determine how shock or low-velocity impacts lead to energy concentration and how hot spots ignite and grow.
