Investigation on the Physics and Microfluidics of the Decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide in MEMS Microthrusters

Abstract

The overall objective of this project can be stated as: the study and understanding of the chemically reacting-multiphase-non-isothermal-evaporating flow which is involved in the catalytic decomposition of rocket grade hydrogen peroxide inside a micro-scale combustion chamber. The main objective will be to determine design trends (i.e. geometric layout, critical length for complete decomposition) by identifying the impact and mutual relationship that the main design parameters have on the effectiveness of the catalytic reaction.
